I want to use Gmail to retrieve my mcastudent.org mail
So, you don't like the mcastudent.org email? Already have a Gmail account? If you want to use your Gmail to send and/or receive from your student email account, here's how.
First, log in to your Personal Gmail account, then after clicking the "cog-wheel" at the top right, choose "Mail settings"
Once the "Settings" page has come up, choose the "Accounts and Import tab"; under the "Check mail using POP3" section, you'll want click on "Add a POP3 mail account you own".
You will see a small pop-up window come up at this point and this is where you will fill in the account details, starting with your email address (for this example, I've used "ian@mcastudent.org" - you will enter in your entire email address, e.g. lastname_firstname@mcastudent.org for these purposes).
After entering in your email address and clicking on "Next Step>", you'll be asked to enter in your name. Use your name as you'd like other people to see it, then proceed to the "Next Step >"
After clicking "Add Account >" you'll be asked if you wish to send mail as the account you just added. (And of course, you will want to set this up.) Just ensure that the "Yes..." is checked and then press "Next Step >"
Leave "Send through Gmail (easier to set up) selected and then proceed to the "Next Step >"
At this point, you'll need to verify to Gmail that you have access to (own) your email address that you've entered. Click on the "Send Verification" button at the bottom of this step.
At this point you're technically through with the Gmail setup. It's easiest to verify the email address at this point by logging into your mcastudent.org email (http://mail.mcastudent.org/webmail) and just click the verification link and that will verify the account (then press the "Close Window" link and you'll be done with setup).
If you wish to use the alternate verification, copy the verification code into the field on the next Gmail config page and then hit the "Verify" button.
Once you've completed all of these steps, you'll be sent to a confirmation Gmail page showing that you've completed the steps and verification is complete.
If you selected the "Label" option above, during setup, you'll also be able to see your mcastudent.org emails in your Gmail inbox. They'll have the label "email@mcastudent.org" in the email listing.
Configuration for having Hotmail, Yahoo and other third party email services pick up your mcastudent.org email should be similar.
